Frequently Asked Questions

  • ...take trades?
We absolutely take trades on gear! Trade in a guitar, amp or pedal that you've had sitting around and we can give you store credit towards your next purchase. It's always best to give us a call beforehand as we may be busy in the shop with customers or may have similar items already in stock. If you have an idea of the price you would like credited for the trade that information is also very helpful.
  • ...take guitars on consignment?
Yes, we always have a healthy stock of consigned guitars, basses and amplifiers. We don't take in too many consigned pedals unless they are rare or have very specific functions. After inspecting the guitar of any defects and agreeing on a listing price we get the guitar ready for shop patrons to try and buy your guitar. We take a consignment rate of 30% for instruments listed under $1500 and 25% for instruments listed over $1500 Why consign your guitar? We handle the "tire kickers" so you don't have to. Guitars Plus has a reputation for housing rare, unique, vintage and boutique guitars so we have a steady stream of folks who check out our inventory.
  • ...buy guitars?
Yes. We're happy to purchase your instrument if we feel it will suit our inventory. We provide payment via e transfer or cheque following proper documentation of the guitar and the seller. Sellers will need to provide: - Name - Phone Number - Email - A valid piece of pictured government ID We don't do cash deals on any equipment.
  • ...sell instruments other than guitars?
Not really... We're a shop that primarily focuses on guitars and guitar accessories. We typically deal with electric and acoustic guitars and basses. Sometime we will have a lap steel or dobro but we don't carry mandolins, ukuleles or banjos. Check out our online stock to see what we have in store or come by the shop during operating hours.
  • ...do refrets?
Yes we do! We have 3 great technicians that work together to see that your refret goes as smoothly as possible. We offer nickel silver, gold EVO and stainless steel options in various gauges. Often times a refret requires a new nut which we're also happy to provide in either bone or Graph Tech TUSQ. Depending on the scope of work, the process usually takes 3 weeks to fully complete. Installing new frets in your guitar will change the sound, feel and playability of your instrument and the neck relief will move as the woods adjust to the new fretwire. We offer 90 business day warranty on our work to ensure that you neck accepts the new frets and that any movement in the neck can be quickly adjusted. Refretting a bass or guitar is quite a "surgical" process and requires the right tools, patience and awareness to make sure everything goes well. Bring your instrument by the shop and we'll be happy to walk through the process and pricing options for your specific instrument and budget.
