We absolutely take trades on gear! Trade in a guitar, amp or pedal that you've had sitting around and we can give you store credit towards your next purchase. It's always best to give us a call beforehand as we may be busy in the shop with customers or may have similar items already in stock. If you have an idea of the price you would like credited for the trade that information is also very helpful.

...take guitars on consignment?

Yes. Guitars Plus accepts select guitars, basses, and amplifiers on consignment in Victoria, BC. We regularly sell used, vintage, boutique, rare, and high-quality instruments both in-store and online through Reverb.

Consignment is a good option if you want to keep the majority of the final selling price while letting us handle the work of selling your instrument. We assess the condition, help determine a fair market listing price, answer buyer questions, photograph the item, list it for sale, and manage the sales process.

When your guitar, bass, or amplifier is consigned with Guitars Plus, we can market it to both local customers and a worldwide audience through our online shop and Reverb store. We also handle customer communication, payment, packing, shipping, insurance, and any required paperwork for instruments with regulated materials.

Our consignment fee is based on the final selling price, with higher-value instruments receiving a lower commission rate. The seller keeps the majority of the sale price, and our cut covers the time, presentation, online listing, buyer communication, transaction handling, and shipping support required to sell the instrument properly.

We are especially interested in quality electric guitars, acoustic guitars, basses, and amplifiers that we believe are currently valued above $1,000 on the used market. We generally do not accept most pedals on consignment unless they are rare, collectible, high-value, or serve a specific niche function.

To consign an instrument, bring it to Guitars Plus for an in-person assessment or contact us with clear photos, the brand, model, year if known, condition, and any relevant details. Once we inspect the item and agree on a price, we’ll prepare it for sale and represent it professionally until it sells.

...buy guitars?

Accepted Answer

Yes.

We're happy to purchase your instrument if we feel it will suit our inventory. We provide payment via e transfer or cheque following proper documentation of the guitar and the seller. Sellers will need to provide:
 - Name
 - Phone Number
 - Email 
 - A valid piece of pictured government ID

We don't do cash deals on any equipment.

...sell instruments other than guitars?

Not really...

We're a shop that primarily focuses on guitars and guitar accessories. We typically deal with electric and acoustic guitars and basses. Sometime we will have a lap steel or dobro but we don't carry kazoos, harmonicas, ukuleles, banjos etc...

...do refrets?

Yes. Guitars Plus offers professional electric, acoustic and bass guitar refret services in Victoria, BC. Our refret work is handled in-house by Trevor Woodland, owner and head technician of Guitars Plus, who has over 10 years of experience as an electric guitar luthier.

A refret can improve the feel, playability, intonation, and long-term usability of a guitar or bass with worn, uneven, or damaged frets. Because every instrument is different, we do not use a single flat-rate price for refrets. Pricing depends on the instrument, fretboard condition, fretwire choice, neck construction, binding, setup needs, and any additional work required.

We typically offer Jescar fretwire in nickel silver and stainless steel. Certain Dunlop fretwire options may also be available for guitars with single-radius fretboards. We can walk you through the available wire sizes and material options before the work begins.

Most refrets range from approximately $400 to $600+, depending on the scope of work and selected options. All refrets also require a professional setup, which is billed separately.

We have a detailed refret quote sheet that we can review with you in-store or send by email upon request. After the refret is complete, we also offer a follow-up inspection after approximately 2 to 4 weeks to check how the instrument has settled and address any fret movement or adjustment needs.

To get started, bring your guitar or bass to Guitars Plus for an assessment. We’ll inspect the instrument, explain the available options, and provide a clear quote for the work.

Do I need an appointment?

No, you do not need an appointment. At Guitars Plus in Victoria, we operate our repair intake on a first-come, first-served basis. Simply bring your instrument by the shop during our regular business hours for a free visual inspection and a preliminary estimate. Rush fees apply for same day service or emergency repairs.

What is your return policy?

Guitars Plus accepts returns on eligible new items within 3 days of purchase, provided the item is returned in its original condition, with all original packaging, accessories, and materials included.

Items must be returned in saleable condition. New items that are returned incomplete, opened, damaged, used, or otherwise not in original saleable condition may be subject to a 20% restocking fee.

How long does a guitar setup take?

Most setups are completed within 3–5 business days, depending on our current bench volume.

Absolutely. We have years of experience troubleshooting guitar electronics, offering custom wiring harness fabrication, pickup shielding, and professional installation of brands like Seymour Duncan, Lollar, and TV Jones.
